I am a victim of EasyCGI's incompetence trying to migrate my perfectly working site from their old data center in Pearl River NY to their "new platform", no doubt some new data center they are either buying Colo space within.  This new platform seems like a dream come true... better control panel tools, promises of better resiliency, uptime, etc.  The problem is I am now at exactly the 1 month mark of them trying to migrate my simple DNN site to the new platform.  Their support is terrible too.  Every time I speak to their Level 1 tech support (glorified typists putting in support tickets), I get the same run around. "These things take time... we are committed to getting your site transitioned.  I have asked almost daily to have a Level 2 tech call me to discuss getting the migration accomplished.  My biggest issue is that the existing site is running and changing daily as new users register, new forum posts are made, etc.  I tell them that every day that they waste trying to fix yesterdays re-attempted migration needs to start over with the freshest database copy.  I have even offered to manually migrate the space except that they have taken away access to the old control panel so I can no longer do database backups of my currently running site.  This is just miserable.  I know my site is just a lowly site at their hosting facility, but I did not ask for this migration and I expect if they are having a problem they should take care of this  personally with me to get this done properly.

I am not sure if any stakeholders at EasyCGI are on this website or if the DNN corp higher ups can help me get the right person over there to fix this but I am at the end of a long rope that I gave them to hang themselves with.

My next step is my own migration to a different web host if this can not get resolved immediately. Can anyone recommend a better web host with personal tech support?  I am already talking to one I know is better but am waiting for pricing before I can make a commitment there.  Please help guys.

That is a shame, and from a hosting providers perspective, a migration of that magnitude is one headache after another.  Now obviously I am a PowerDNN employee so I am a little partial to our service:)  We do have free migrations for new customers, which I have long thought was extremely valuable.  But from your decision making standpoint, you should really be thinking about what sort of uptime you require, how much support your site may require (this means looking at your use of 3rd party modules and custom code), and how important security is.  One you have come up with a good "needs" profile, you can make a decision on a hosting provider.

There are only a couple DotNetNuke specialists around, us being one of them, but there are many hosting providers out there who can host DotNetNuke.  As you have probably already learned though, hosting DNN and supporting it are two very different things.  When a provider is offering extremely discounted hosting, you can bet that when it comes time to do a hardware upgrade, site migration, or even a datacenter migration, they have to be able to rationalize the support cost.  But, if the hosting provider is worth their salt, they will communicate well with their customers, and execute a well thought out plan for any migrations/upgrades.

Goodluck in your pursuits.  The great thing about the DNN ecosystem is you always have lots of choices:)

I am hosting mutiple DNN sites on CrystalTech for many years.  They have been great to work with and directly support DNN.  The web console even has an option to install DNN to your site.  Their tech support has always been very responsive and helpful.
