Hi,

I think this is a very basic question, but please help me ... I am developing a module following the great article from Michael Washington (with LinqDataSource) and everything is working fine. I have two tables, one with projects and a related one with categories. The projects table have the ID (FK) of the related category, and the two are in the Linq to Sql class designer. Following the instructions in the article I can insert and edit the related record, but my problem is displaying the related record in the formView ItemTemplate. The formview is linked to a LinqDataSource linked to the Projects table, and all the records are displayed by labels. Each label is binded to a field. This way the categories field only shows the ID and not the category name. What can I do to show the category name instead ? (I cannot use the same procedure as described to the dropdownlist because I must use a label)

Thanks a lot for your help.
Best Regards
Rosorio

You can use this technique to override the selecting event in the Linq Data Source control and "create" a property that contains the Product Name. Then you can bind to this new property.

Hi Michael,

Thanks a lot for help. Your articles have been my guides and they are great.
I have used that technique in the pre-render event of the label and it worked great.

Thanks again
Rui Osorio
