There are also other benefits for creating the Terms and Privacy statements in separate tabs and hard linking to them in your skin - which is for search engines.

When you use the default DNN setup each page creates a link that appears as a different URL to the Terms and Privacy statements. - This means that the SEs index every Terms and Privacy statement pages from every single page you have created as it appears to the SEs as a new unique page / URL.

This can cause problems and you may find your terms & privacy statement pages appear more often in search results than your actual website main content pages!

Something to think about...

How exactly do you hardcode this link into the skin?

It's actually a pretty easy skinning change --- basically just an HTML edit.  You just add the HTML for the link in the appropriate area in your skin.

If you're not comfortable with skinning, it's not necessary to hard code it, you can also use the Links module.  Just place it in, for example, a footer pane for your skin and in the module settings, set it to display on every page.

ok, I added the <a href="URL">Terms of Use</a> line to my skin. The problem with this is formatting. I tried adding a <FONT color=#ffffcc></FONT> around the link, but the skin says that is not a valid tag. Is there anyway I can make the link format match the formating of the rest of the page?

Hello,

You could specify a class for the link such as:
<a class="termslinks" href=" etc. . .

and then in the skin.css file put:

.termslink a:link, .termslink a:visited {
the styling etc. . . .
}

So you set it up exactly as you would for any other links / tokens within your skin.
