Right now on the list of users, if i enter something like 'john%' and click the search button, it gives me the list of users whose name start with John (like John Smith etc.). However my client wants me to change that wild card character to "*". So they would enter "John*" and it should list all users whose name start with "John". Where can I configure this?

Hi.

You have to change the Storec Proc GETSEARCHRESULTS

Search the Line
   AND (sw.Word = @Word)
and change it to
   AND (sw.Word like @Word)

This brings also e.g. carwash when you search for car.

For using the standard wildcards * for one or more character and ? for one character, you can use this line

   AND (sw.Word LIKE REPLACE(REPLACE(@Word, '*', '%'),'?', '_'))

Of course you have to have administrative rights on your DB-Server. So, if you have your DNN running at a hoster ask him to do these changes.

Cheers

Kai

Hi again.

Sorry, i used above given trick for changing the normal Search behaviour. It seams that it does not work in the user-manager.

However, under 4.9. it seams (well, at least it works at my test installation), that you don't have to type any wildcard in the user search box at all.

I've tested it by just entering the  first 2 chars without a % or anything else and it gives me every user beginning with these 2 chars. Exactly what you are looking for, isn't it?
