Hi There!

I have some queries regarding incorporating web services that I have developed from retrieving information from ERP system. I need to know how to incorporate these web service methods into DotNetNuke project.

Any reference tutorials that I can refer to? and also help from you guys. thanks! = ) Appreciate it!

Germaine,

If you can access your Service using  simple HTTP calls instead of a SOAP request, or if your Service is a REST service, the XML module is your friend.

Otherwise, as DotNetNuke is based on ASP.NET, and it is extensible through modules. Visual Studio allows you to connect to WebServices, and it generates all the Code needed to access your Service.

Hi Stefan,

Thank you for replying.

I'm able to access my web service if I implement a web service in another ASP.Net file instead of incorporating it into IWeb - a DNN web service module.

As I have to do access control over certain web service module such as not all sales detail can be retrieved by a normal staff but can be viewed by the top management, thus I would need to adopt a IWeb to ensure that access control can be set.

However, i have problem incorporating my web service into IWEB.asmx page. it does not show my written web service. May I know how can i go about to insert my web service into the IWEB asmx? I have read the documentation/help online, but it does not help me much..

fyi, im writing web service to retrieve information from a ERP software, thus I do not need to use the data provider and sqldataprovider.

Could you please  assist me in this area? Thank you. : )

Sorry, I never worked with IWeb, maybe you should ask your question at the IWeb  forum? http://www.codeplex.com/IWeb/Thread/List.aspx

Isn't IWeb about the other way round? I thought it is about offering DNN functionality as webservices, for example manageing users, etc. It is not about consuming webservices.

This forum is dedicated to the Xml module only. It retrieves XML data from a file or an url, transforms it with a XST and returns the output. It can't access SOAP webservices directly, unless they are opened up to be accissble through  an url (like when you test your asmx locally)

If you can access your webservice from a browser at your webserver, you can use it as a source for the XML module.
