It's nice that the repository prevents users who are not authorized to download files but anyone with some patience and a script can guess file names and link to them directly.

How about a handler that interceptes any request to the /repository directory and allows only registered users?

If you use the default templates with the [FILE] token in the upload forms, the files get mangled on upload with an embedded Guid. I doubt anyone will be able to guess the filename, no matter how much patience they have.

If you are using the new [URLCONTROLFILE] token in your upload forms, then you are using the core upload control. Just make the folder a secure folder.

I tried [URLCONTROLFILE] and this control seems to not let you browse for files as the [FILE] control does. It only lets you upload files that are on a webserver (URL) or a file on my webserver which does not make any sense. What is the use of the control URLCONTROLFILE?

Also, I don't have any template dropdownlist on my repository settings page, any idea why this does not show?

Thanks, Markus

on the module settings page, take a look at the 'skins' dropdownlist, that is where you select a template. When using the URLCONTROLFILE token, there is a hyperlink under the text box 'Upload New File', click that, then a Browse button will appear. Browse to a file, select it, then click 'Upload selected file'
