configuration of admin and host menu is a new feature in DNN 5, this requires execution of database commands in DNN 4, which is not recommended.

Regarding localization of page names, there are already a couple of modules, e.g. free EALO in DNN Forge (see icon above) and PageLocalization from www.apollo-software.nl

Most developers make do with either the object browser and intellesense available for most of the core classes in Visual Studio or by examination of the framework source files. Although I usually develop modules against an install version of the DNN framework, I also keep a current source install available to be opened in VS2008 to look at sections of framework code - usually to confirm what core method parameters are expecting for values, what type of object arraylists are returning, etc.

Here's a helpful blog entry by Ernst Peter Tamminga about the tremendously helpful MSDN style help files he has created for the DNN framework - even updated to DNN 4.9.0 and available free of charge on CodePlex:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryId/2019/An-updated-version-of-the-MSDN-Style-DNN-Core-help-files-DNN-4-9-0.aspx

I would also caution you to avoid customization of the DNN core itself except in VERY rare instances to avoid headaches when it comes time to update the DNN framework which happens quite frequently and because of the additional support problems such customizations are bound to cause. Extensions should be done through the development of modules and/or providers.
