Hi,

I added a number of modules to a page, and checked the option "Display Module on all Pages". Everytime I now create a new page these modules are added automatically.

If I edit any of these modules and uncheck the "Display Module on all Pages" and then try and update I receive the following warning message:

An error has occured.
Error: Module is currently unavailable.

Can you help with the following questions:

1. Why is this error message appearing (maybe a bug)?
2. How can I remove these modules when creating a new page?
3. Is it possible to create a "page template" containing specifc modules, that you can use when creating new pages. If so, how - and if you wanted to alter the template later can you do this without impacting the pages you have already created using this "template".

Thx in advance...

I have had a related problem under DNN 4.0.  I added an image module in the slogan pane and ticked the "Display module on all pages" box.  Then I deleted the module without unticking the box first, and later added a new image module, also ticking the "Display module on all pages" box.

Problem One:  On existing pages in the site *both* the deleted image module and the new image module now appear. If I untick the box, the second module disappears, but the original deleted one remained.   I was forced to go through every page in the site and manually delete the shadow instances of the original deleted module.

Problem Two:  Even with the box now unticked, each time I create a new page, the deleted original image module appears on the new page and must be manually deleted.

I found a reference to the tick/untick problem and shadow instances under DNN 3.2 in the bug database, but it was a problem with the "untick" not being recognized.  This is not the problem under 4.0.  I believe this is a bug, and would very much like to hear if anyone has a workaround.  Thanks.

My understanding is that if you have the 'display on all pages' box checked then that module will display on ALL pages.  Even if you change the skin so that the 'pane' might not exist it just dumps it into the default pane ('contentpane').  At least that's been my experience.

The best way I've found to remove it is by unchecking that 'display on all pages' on the original page where the module was placed.

I neglected to read carefully what krollb had written.  It seems as though deleting the module works to remove it from a page, though permanently removing it from all pages likely needs the solution I suggested -- unchecking on the original page.

Sorry I can't comment on your other issues.

Thanks for your replies.  I had begun to suspect this might be the case.  Just one problem.  How do you identify what the original page was as I have no idea?

Thanks

Liz
