Everything goes fine until the end where it fails to create the default portal.  I am sure the file permissions are set correctly.  What else could be going wrong?

(if I click the access portal I get an object not found, and the portal table is empty.)

I still have no clues..

I did a clean install of DNN 3.2.2 and it works great.  I left the asp 2.0 as the version to use.  I have no idea what could be the difference between the DNN versions.

Maybe I will try to do an upgrade, but I almost want to leave it alone since its working..

I don't think I ever remember so many people having install problems as with the 4.x version.  Heck, I can install 3.2 fine.  But as soon as I get to 4.0.2 and try to use *ANY* other database besides the SQLExpress one--fahgedaboudit...We all must be missing something simple--but I for one have zero clue what it is. 

What *would* seriously help is if people limited the number of threads they start.  No one can possibly help everyone if we each start a thread with unspecific titles, or don't look to see if there's already a thread with the same question.  This must be a nightmare for the mods here. (*and don't shoot the messenger!* )
