Hello Forum Team,

While I was translating the Email Templates to Spanish I found that there are 19 of them stored in the Database, inside the Forum_EmailTemplates table.

However, only 11 are active on the Forum instances of my DNN installations.

Is there a way to activate the other 8 templates?

I am referring to the Forum Module v4.4.3.

Saludos!

Alejandro

Hello again,

Some more data in order to clarify my previous post.

On every Forum Module instance that I have enabled on my DNN installations I can see the following 11 templates available:

  • (ForumEmailTypeID, EmailTemplateName)
  • 1, UserPostAdded
  • 2, UserPostEdited
  • 3, ModeratorPostToModerate
  • 4, UserPostApproved
  • 5, UserPostDeleted
  • 7, UserThreadMoved
  • 8, UserThreadSplit
  • 9, UserPMReceived
  • 10, UserNewThread
  • 12, ModeratorPostDeleted
  • 13, ModeratorPostAbuse

However, when I went to the Database, I found that the following 8 templates were also there, though most of them without text.

  • 6, UserPostRejected
  • 11, UserForumAdded
  • 14, ModeratorPMBlock
  • 15, UserPostAbuse
  • 16, ModeratorWarnUser
  • 17, ModeratorUserBaned
  • 18, UserBanedNotice
  • 19, UserModeratorWarning

The question is: Should I fill them with text? Will they ever show up under some non-default Forum configuration?

Thank you!

Saludos,
Alejandro.

Hi Alejandro,

I am not sure if they are in use yet.  I am sorry that I could not check it yet, about I am busy.  It can be 2 thinks, first is that they are not active in 4.4.3 the other is on install/upgrade the SQL-script didn't run probertly.

Hi Matthias,

Thank you for your answer.

From what you say, that it could be one of two reasons, the first, they are not active in 4.4.3, the second, the scripts did not run/install properly... let me add some more info:

Two days ago I have done two new fresh installations of the Forum Module v4.4.3, one on a DNN 4.8.4 in production and the other, as testing, on a DNN 4.9.0 fresh install. On both of them the Forum Module installed the very same Email Templates as it did on my previous experiences. I mean, it has behaved consistently.

So again, from what you say, I would go for the first reason: The 8 referred templates are not active, and not available on the Forum Module v4.4.3. If this is so, then there is no problem. The question I have posted here was intended to know if I should add text to those templates, just in case there where some scenarios under which they would become available. It seems they are stored there for a coming release, but not for the current one.

Concluding, there are 11 Email Templates available, and that's just it.

If anybody as some information to add to this subject, it will be very welcome. If the thread has no further answers over the next days, I will mark it as closed.

Thank you again Matthias! :-)

Saludos,
Alejandro.

I think there can be some szenarios, where there sending empty emails.  Adding some content to the templates should not be wrong. But you can do it only via SQL script or directly in the database table.
