Hello everyone.

The last couple of months I've been migrating to DNN from Joomla. One hitch I've run into though is finding a Skin provider that operates a subscription service similar to RocketTheme or Joomlart. They offer developer licensing based on an allotted number of allowed domains, and the subscriptions are anywhere from a mandated amount of months paid in advance up to yearly payments.

So far, I haven't liked buying by the "pack" off sites like Snowcovered, so if anyone knows if a subscription-based Skin provider out there similar to the aforementioned, it'd help me out a lot.

Thank you!

I can't say I've seen any skin providers providing subscriptions, mostly module developers doing that. It is an interesting approach, I'm just not sure it's been brought up before in the DNN Skinning world.

Hi

I havent seen a real quality subscription service ( like rocketthemes etc ) . But then again it seems that there these services are more valued in those worlds then in dnn . We have tried it last year but there was not enough interest and switched back to custom skins. Maybe I will try again to set it up next year.

Problem what I have with dnn ( in general what I have learned ) most peple dont seem to respect quality and time of skin developers. Most of the Snowcovered topsellers in skins and fortunately lately less in modules is not the best qaulit but the most skin colors or most skin variations. Just put out a ssiple skin and drop in 300 containers and a few 100 css files with a search anad replace on one color code.

But if you have the subscription and some html and skin nowledge they can be converted over to dnn skins. see dnngrid960.39.websecurestores.com/RocketThemes/April08Chromatophore/tabid/68/Default.aspx

This is a quick conversion of the april08 skin ( quick conversion so looks best in forefox for now )

Nina Meirs tried this with Skincovered.com and failed miserably.  Subscribers never got the expected value, mostly because she committed to something she was unable to produce.  Few of the skins were reasonably good enough to justify the subscription.  You would need quite a few different professionally done skins to be able to justify the subscription.

Thank you for the replies everyone. Puzzling how that business model has turned up ineffectual in the realm of DNN, but I rather enjoyed it.

No biggie, I'll get used to buying by the pack and learn which vendors suit me best and which don't.
