Hello all,

Not sure this is the right place to post this question. I have a parent portal with the home page having links to different sub portals as separate image icons.

I have to control display of those icons based on user role (only 2 icons may be displayed for a user - to give him access to only 2 portals). So, i've decided to place 1 html module in contect pane of page for each image icon. In total i have 7 child portals and so i've placed 7 html modules in content pane with each containing 1 image icon with href pointing to appropriate child portal links.

Now the issue is when i place the HTML module into content pane, it gets stacked up vertically

HTML Module1

HTML Module2

HTML Module3

HTML Module4

But, i would like to make them stack horizontally like

HTML Module 1 - HTML Module2 - HTML Module 3 - HTML Module 4

and also i should able to control the size of each and every html modules i place inside content pane.. is there a way to implement this?

Hope i explained the issue clearly.. expecting some positive feedback

Thanks in advance!

Saran

As far as I know, there is no way to set the containers to flow in-line (thus allowing them to sit next to each other in the same pane). You may need to setup a separate skin file with a different pane layout for this particular page.

Regarding the controlling the width of the modules, you can either do this via the particular modules' settings or code or you can also set the pane width statically inside the skin file, however that can lead to layout issues with other pages that use the same skin.

I've seen a module you can buy that would let you do what you're describing. I never tried it but you could do a web search. I think it was called a module wrapper, or something to that affect. Otherwise you're limited as the previous person said.

ZLDNN Module wrapper is I think the one you're talking about.  I've used it occasionally, and I (personally) think it's better than having a whole ton of variant skins.

Absolutely, anything you can do to avoid having many variant skins will make your life much simpler. I had forgotten about ZLDNN's module, and if it allows you to do that, I would absolutely reccomend it over a separate skin.
