I have been working at my DotNetNuke install for over a week now.
clean install
Server: Windows 2000
ASP.net ver. 2
DotNetNuke ver 4.02
SQLExpress 2005

I am setting it up on my Windows 2000 webserver for use on the internet. I have created the database. I have edited the web.config file... I have followed the installation document and at this point I'm looking for some more direction regarding what is currently blocking my progress. ASPnet and IUSR have full permissions on the root directory.

Server Error in '/DotNetNuke' Application.

Ok I have found the solution! You need to rename your install folder with the same same of the version of DotNetNuke you are installing.

For example if you want to install dotnetnuke version 3.2.2 you must rename your physical installation folder in DNN3.2.2 and the error will be solved.

Hi everyone,

I have the same problem described by Kimberlee Johnson (first post in this thread). However, the solution posted by Mirko Messori has not been a solution for me.

I am installing DNN v4.8.0 in a new directory in my PC. I have done this many times before and have 4 localhost different versions of DNN working fine. But this time I get this error:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Server Error in '/Dnn480' Application.

Configuration Error
Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: An error occurred loading a configuration file: Access to the path 'C:\My Documents\WebSites\aQaHosting\Dnn480\web.config' is denied.

Source Error:
[No relevant source lines]

Source File: C:\WebSites\Dnn480\web.config Line: 0
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am working with WinXP Pro SP2. All permisions are set for that folder, and I have added the NETWORK SERVICE and ASPNET users with full control, even though all the other DNN installations are working fine without them.

Any ideas? Thank you very much!

Saludos,
Alejandro.

The proper solution to this issue is to grant the ASP.NET Worker process FULL permissions to the DNN root directory.

If you are installing on Windows 2000 or XP the account you need to grant permissions to is ASPNET, if you are on Windows 2003 or Vista it is NETWORK SERVICE

If you have not looked at my installation guide at http://www.mitchelsellers.com you might also have a look there to see more detail.
