Hi,
Don't know if anyone can help but I am trying to build a site that has business listings. I have a set of pages for each town which includes a business listings set of pages. Currently I have one page per category, and each business is in its own text/html module (which is great as I can reuse the module where a business falls under more than one category and/or town). I have for one town over 100 pages. Soon I will have many thousands of pages!!!!
What I really want is to have one page, and that page only displays the modules that relate to a specific category. I want to still be able to have each business within it's own module so that I can specify which container to use (I have premium listings that need to have a bold container and free listings that have a subtle container).
Via other pages on the site, the user would click on a link (e.g. shoe shops), be taken to the listings page which only displays shoe shops.
I am thinking that a text/module that has been modified to enable the selection of categories to which the module belongs would be the way to go (perhaps the serach keywords field could be used?). Then I would have a a single (but very long) page with all the business listings for that town on it. I can order the modules in the order I want and spcify the container I want. I guess there will also have to some modification to how the lstings page is linked to as it needs to pass across the category required. I currently link to the litings page via the link module and via links within the text/html module.
I have tried looking on snowcovered for something like this, but all I can find is modules that bring back the results in a list format within a module, but I want each result to come back into its own module.
Is what I need sensible? Is there a better way to do it? Would it be expensive to get someone to build this for me? I am running on a very tight budget.
Alternatively, I carry on as I am, but perhaps find a utility that makes searching through pages (in admin mode when specifiying parent page, or when adding existing module) a little easier when you have many thousands of pages.
Any help or suggestions gratefully appreciated.
