Hi,

I create a module and build without error. When I insert into Content pane, and I got this error.

Error: sampleview is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: External component has thrown an exception. ---> System.Web.HttpCompileException: External component has thrown an exception. at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.PostProcessFoundBuildResult(BuildResult result, Boolean keyFromVPP, VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetBuildResultFromCacheInternal(String cacheKey, Boolean keyFromVPP, VirtualPath virtualPath, Int64 hashCode) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultFromCacheInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.InjectModule(Control objPane, ModuleInfo objModule, PortalSettings PortalSettings) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I followed these steps to create new module in vs2008

1. created new folder in the desktop modules called sample

2. In the sample folder->add new item-> view.ascx file

3. In the design mode of view file, inserted just the textbox and buuton controls

4. build it without errors

5.followed the steps to create new module definition  and pages into the site as in http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/LinqTutorial/LinqTutorial2.htm url

6. till this i never occured any errors.

7. when i click the view mode in controlpanel i got that error.

Please reply me that the above steps are correct and give suggestion to solve this error.

The HttpCompileException is usually thrown when there is a syntax error in the .ascx file itself - unclosed or overlapping tags, etc. If you are not able to locate the problem after carefully inspecting the content of the .ascx file, please post it to the forum.

Also, as it appears you are not using one of the module templates for Visual Studio, did you remember to inherit (in the code behind for the user control's class) from DotNetNuke.Entities.Modules.PortalModuleBase?
