I have a client who is changing web hosting providers due to the previous host having a big rate hike.

Their new hosting company will only give them one SQL database meaning they need to combine the databases for two very different DNN portals into one database.

Is there a way to backup a portal and all it's content and import it an existing DNN instance?

you may either create a template from one portal and create a new portal in installation of the other based on it, but there will most likely be a lot of manual twaeking to be done, since neither all settings nor all modules are included. Another option is use of different object qualifiers, but this requires to merge ASPNET_* tables - not really a nice way either. IMHO easiest (and cheapest) option is to look for a different hosting provider.
