I'm surprised (or have missed the threads/posts) that this product has not gotten more press, posting activity, and discussion.

Open Web Studio

FREE, OPEN SOURCE.   Amazing.   Yes, it seems a little complicated but it is FREE and appears to be very powerful.    I've been looking for a good forms module.  The problem I have found are too many that are not good.   The next problem I have found is the licensing model.  If you had support issues or the product needs 3 products to do everything you need...  it's a nightmare.

I'm about to dive into OWS to see how fast I can create simple CRUD forms with no 'logic'.

The folks over at DNNCreative are keeping tabs on this and hopefully will have more.   Check out some of their past podcasts for discussions on OWS.

Yes, it's free. And yes, it is the most powerful "forms" (more of a web app framework) module for DNN.

And yes, it is very complicated.  The downside is that OWS suffers from the same problems as it's predecessor (ListX) did - limited documentation/training resources.

Brian, since I think your developing skills are similar to mine I would be interested in hearing how you make out with it.

Brian

How did you get along with using OpenWebStudio?

I've been looking at it for since early days though I never had a chance to use ListX... so with very little documentation and constant delays in anything being released it's been a painfully slow process and it doesn't look to change anytime soon.

Unfortunately they don't seem to relate growing users can turn into growing support needs, or outsourced tasks.  Those that do seem to be able to use it appear to be quite impressed with how it works.

I quit looking after a day..    too complicated, no docs and well not much free support for the end user.   The quick builder doesn't work.

dnndev.com is releasing a new xmod to work with your own database (finally)..

given how long xmod has been around, the support, continual releases..  I'd rather pay and get what I want.    I'm in their pre-beta test program now...
