We have the following configuration:

dotnetnuke : 3.2.2
IIS: 6.0
Windows server 2003
SQL server 2000

After installation of donetnuke (followed the steps as given in the training video) we get the following error in Install.aspx screen. We are not able to connect to the SQL database.
ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

The connecting string, the database name, username and password were verfied and found to be correct.
We tried the following combinations:
a) Created the database "xyz" and the user was set up with SQL authentication : Same error as above.
b) Created the database "xyz" and the user was set up with Windows authentication : Same error as above.

Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I believe there are two connection strings in the web.config file.  One is for Access and one is for SQL, you will need to make sure you change the SQL string, also make sure that the Web.Config file is set to use SQL, which by default it is.

Hi Stuart

We rechecked the web.config file and we are using the SQL setting and not the Access one.

Thanks

If you create a System ODBC connection to the SQL server does it work?  I would say you are going to need to check username/login for SQL at this point.

Hi Stuart
Yes we are able to establish an ODBC connection to the SQL server.

Thanks
