If you are comfortable send me over your web.config file and I will take a look at it.

Send it to slhilbert[at]gmail[dot]com

Or I could send you one that I use if you prefer.

Are you using a named instance or a default instance?  If it's a named instance, the Server= format should be 'Server=MACHINENAME\INSTANCENAME'

Do you have a semicolon after both the login and password?  Here's a connection string I've used that works (I changed the names of course):

For a default instance:

Server=(local);Database=DATABASENAME;uid=USERNAME;pwd=PASSWORD;

For a named instance:

Server=MACHINENAME\INSTANCENAME;Database=DATABASENAME;uid=USERNAME;pwd=PASSWORD;

This should go between the "" double-quotes.  Hope this helps.

Hi,

I am experiencing exactly same problem installing DotNetNuke 3.2 version on our live server. The database name and credentials are correct and work in the ODBC DSN. However the DNN keeps returning the same error.

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

SQL Server does not exist or access denied

Hi Guys,

I have been debugging this problem since yesterday and now have realized that it is some sort of a security issue. Something to do with the IIS Level Application pooling / security setting. It is now giving me an error of "Unable to get required permissions" MAchine.Config Error.

Any answer(s) to your problem?

I have installed the same as you mention on my machine, and it works beautifully, but when I install on my wife's machine, I get the error you mention above.

Are there other security settings that need to be considered?
