Hi everyone

There seems to be a security bug.  It affects only environments where more secure setup is required. Sites built on Nuke need “list” permission in TEMP folder or modules fail to load. Sometimes errors are generates complaining about not being able to locate class files in TEMP folder. By default each user has unrestricted access to OWNED files and folders. Nuke needs to see ALL files and folders.

Try it on W2003R2 DC (use defaults where ever possible). Create new application pool and configure it to run as non-admin user account (refer to windows help for details). Set the website to use this pool.

I hope this helps someone...

Hi Toomas,

this doesn't look like an issue related to the Blog module itself. I suggest you to take a look to the DNN security policy to know the best way to inform the core team about eventual security lacks in the core.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

 Hi Toomas,

This is not a DotNetNuke-specific issue, but rather of general ASP.NET applicability.  My recollection is that the ASP.NET service account (IIS_WPG, NETWORK SERVICE, or a specific app-pool configured account) requires FULL access to both the ASP.NET and Windows temporary directory.  I believe this is the configuration assigned through the AspNet_RegIIS tool.  That you are able to get away with some subset of these permissions (so far) likely indicates that you have not run into a situation that requires additional access.

Review KB317012 for more information about permissions required by the ASP.NET worker process.

Hope this helps!

Brandon
