a number of us are testing the various scenarios (4.9->4.91,4.9->4.91->5.0, 4.9.-1->5.0, 4.9.1 and 5.0 installs) to diagnose what problems exist. Theres at least 1 packaging error (http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=8716&PROJID=2) where a file needs to be moved from the bin/providers to bin folder, so we're likely to build a new package to resolve that and any other errors detected - a date can't be given until we determine all the issues and rebuild. A few other issues seem to involve 3rd party modules (one of which - activemodules-already has a fixed version available).

This is not remotely reasonable.   You are assuming no issues would exist due to prior upgrades.   I think in the overall testing, you have to at least start with the last 4.8.x main release and go to 4.9.0 from there and then to your scenarios.    Of course, there should be test computers that go back even further.  DNN prides itself on so many downloads/installs.   Well, that means a high percentage of people have upgraded probably a minimum of 5 times before 4.9.0.   These tests have to be considered.  (Unless you create a full DNN export and import of everything..  so we can start fresh at 5.0)

And I already said this day 1..  the upgrades should be removed...  they leave the system in a bad state.

What's the logic for the casing requirement for the skins? Windows is not a case sensitive OS.

Does anyone know how to solve the issue with the FCKHtmlProvider?

In Gemini it was said to change the bin\provider into bin. I have tried this but still couldn't get pass the installing of the provider. I have tried both upgrades and install versions of DNN5. I just tried the upgrade once more with the latest version of the provider (02.00.03) but still couldn't get passed the installation of the provider. The message I received on screen was "[IOException: The directory is not empty.]" ( and some more).

Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

Marc

you don't have to install the provider, it's already installed - part of it's build was wrong, so you need to move the file as per http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?ID=8716&PROJID=2
