After several hours pulling my hair out, I managed to get this fixed.   Here is how the fix goes:

1. go to the link in the following post

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/89/threadid/276839/scope/posts/Default.aspx

2. Download the new AD provider. Drop it into your Install/modules directory

3. Navigate to your portal address followed by /install/install.aspx?mode=installresources  (ie. http://www.yourportal.com/install/install.aspx?mode=installresources)

This will install the fixed AD provider.

4. This resolved my issues. I was able to login to my portal after this.

Good Luck!

Tried the above but didn't work for me, I'm upgrading from version 04.07.00  This is really irritating as I've spent most of the day trying everything I could get my hands on.

Tony, anything else you may have forgotten to mention?

Thanks all!

Hi,

The work item list as indicated above works, however, the result is still:

Er is een kritieke fout opgetreden.
Method not found: 'System.Collections.Hashtable DotNetNuke.Services.Authentication.AuthenticationConfigBase.get_ModuleSettings()'.

I noticed earlier that I could not find an 'authorization tab' as I have seen in DNN 4.8.x earlier. At that tab you could define as a host what authentications would be allowed. After a restart I could not login again...brr...let's wait till this is resolved..luckely already spending days in upgrading a dnn 4.5.3 to dnn 5.0...so doing this all on a backup!!

Open the Authentication table in the database and removed the entries for Active Directory and Cardspace if they are there.

I get the exact same error.  I upgraded from 4.9 to 5.0 with the upgrade package.  I do not have any reference to ActiveDirectory or CardSpace in my web.config.  The Authentication table does not contain any records for ActiveDirectory or CardSpace, only DNN, LiveID, and OpenID.  This installation is completely useless until the issue is resolved.  I tested the upgrade on a small personal website with no other users, and I am holding off on upgrading my real production websites until I see a solution to this issue.
