Been having this issue for a few days now....
I did a fresh installation of DNN 5.01.04 and setup AD Auth extension 5.0.2. (Win2003 SP2 / IIS6 / SQL2000)
But when I tried to login it always shows me the message "Login Failed, remember...".
And when I tried to browse directly "...DesktopModules/AuthenticationServices/ActiveDirectory/WindowsSignin.aspx", it was able to authenticate my current windows account. I tried with or without but still the same issue.

Any help will do. Thanks in advance!

This is also the issue I am struggling with right now.

I am running a multi domain network (all domains are trusted). I installed DNN 5.01.04 on a server in Domain A and have so far got AD authentication to work for users in the home domain. Domain A users can successfully login using either WindowsSignin.aspx or manually typing DomainA\F.Lastname & password.

(I have left "Root Domain" option empty and prefer all users to login using their full usernames)

But DomainB users get the "Login Failed" message when doing manual logins. They are able to login by accessing WindowsSignin.aspx but the strange thing is DNN doesn't seem to pick up the correct user information (i.e. firstname/lastname, email, phone). For example, someone called John Doe would see his name showing up as "John DomainB" on the upper right corner after being authenticated. I am clueless now and would appreciate some help.

Thanks,

I am also having the same problem.  You can see additional information in This Post.

I'm close.  I can feel it!

Well, when I logged out of DNN, it asked for my AD credentials.  So it seems to work.  But if I'm automatically logged in, then click logout, I can't get back in using DOMAIN\user.name.  I get the "Login Failed, remember that Passwords are case sensitive" error message.

I'm having the exact same problem happens whether the user id has a special character in the name or not ie, domain\fname.lname or domain\fullname is there a solution to resolve this?

Ok...just resolved this for myself...turned out that the employee who installed the AD authentication reset his password.  So I changed the username and password in the Configure DNN_ActiveDirectoryAuthentication Extension Settings for this Portal authentication section of the extensions settings and this resolved the problem for me immediately.

Hmmm, I never checked that out the past to see what would happen. I'm kind of surprised that it still did the automatic login.

In any case, I'm glad you got it sorted out.

Hi,

I'm using DNN 5.2.2 / AD Provider 5.0.2 on Win2003 Server / SQL Server 2005 Express in an intranet setup. I do not want to use forms authentication, just plain Windows authentication against our AD domin. Access to the portal from outside the AD domain is neither required nor permitted.

The AD provider is set up to synchronize users and roles with the AD and the logon is basically working. When a user visits the site, the user profile is created, login is successful and the user name is being displayed correctly on the protal.

But if the login timeout expires or the user clicks on "logout", no automatic re-login is performed. The user could manually login using forms authentication, but that not what I want to happen.

Any hints are greatly appreciated!

Klaus
