Was this an upgrade from a previous DNN install? If so what version was the old version and what version of DNN are you running now? What version of the AD provider are you running? What server OS are you running? I need this kind of information so that I can try to recreate the error you're seeing. I can't give a solution if I can't get the error to happen.

This was an upgrade from 4.9.2 to 5.1.1. I am running 5.0.2 version of the AD provider. This is running on Windows 2000 using SQL Server 2000.

Thanks Adrien. I'll try to setup a W2K server this weekend to see if I can recreate the issue.

Hi Mike,

I'm having the same issue so I thought I'd share more information.  I'm using Windows Server 2003 and SQL 2005.  I made the same upgrade from 4.9.2 to 5.1.1.  Before upgrading I uninstalled AD 01.00.04 (upgrade would not work with that version or 01.00.06 installed).  After the DNN upgrade I installed AD 05.00.02 which went fine, but I can't seem to update any settings through the front end.  I previously didn't need impersonation enabled to use AD, but I tried enabling that to no avail.

I also tried these steps:

  1. Updated the database table PortalSettings directly for the settings AD_WindowsAuthentication, AD_RootDomain, AD_UserName, AD_SynchronizeRole
  2. Cleared the IIS cache and browser cache
  3. Went back to the settings page, but found that the values in the database were not visible - the default values (check boxes unchecked, text boxes blank) were still present

It seems like there is a disconnect between the settings page and what's actually in the database unless the AD provider is using settings in a different table that I'm not aware of.

When AD is enabled are there some file system changes that occur too?  I'm wondering if there is a manual way that I can enable AD for now.

Thanks,

Chris

I forgot to mention one other point that may be relevant.  When I was uninstalling the AD 01.00.04 provider the files were uninstalled ok, but there was a SQL error:

ExceptionSystem.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint "FK_PackageAssemblies_PackageAssemblies". The conflict occurred in database "DNN", table "dbo.Assemblies", column 'PackageID'....

This error occured during multiple attempts to uninstall the provider.
