1) when I try to make a child portal with the subdomain as the alias, DNN tells me "The Portal Name Must Not Contain Spaces Or Punctuation"... I don't get how that makes any sense since any subdomain has periods in it.

2) if I try to make a parent portal instead, it seems to not actually be creating a separate site with pages independent of the original, e.g., if I add or delete a page on one site, the same thing happens on the new portal simultaneously. Also the logins I set up in the create portal step don't work.

Could it be that there was a problem with the install? Any help would be much appreciated.
