Hi,

I'm using 4.9.0
It is stable and I have no big complaints about it.
Now I read a lot complaints about 4.9.1. so I do not dare to upgrade to that version.
Version 5 seems not good as well.
my questions are.

Is 4.9.1. stable and good enough to upgrade to?
Is there coming a version 4.9.2 ?
Is it better to wait on version 5.0.1?

With regards, Ton Hermes

Hi Ton,

I have updated my sites to DNN491 yesterday and haven't encountered any problems. I believe that DNN 491 is taking care of a serious issue, (see here) and that therefore, upgrading to DNN491 is advised (as described in the blog). Make sure you have tested the upgrade process thoroughly to ensure nothing breaks before upgrading your live site.

I am currently testing on my localhost the upgrade process to DNN5 but I keep on bumping into some kind of problem for a number of times. I haven't figured out yet what is exactly stalling the upgrade process. So for me it is a no-go for DNN5.

Ton,

because DNN 4.9.1 fixes a critical security issue, you should upgrade asap. I upgraded all our own and customers sites without issues.

Be aware though that although DNN 4.9.1 is stable and fixes some major bugs introduced in 4.9.0 it unfortunately breaks the UsersOnline module. I have not heard anything about a DNN 4.9.2 version to fix this (the core want to consolidate the 5.x codeline) which means that you wont have user online capability for many months if you are waiting for a more stable 5.x version...  I am hoping there is a DNN 4.9.2 release to fix this.
