Its been along time since anyone posted about compression so heres a quick update.
With ISS 7.0 static compression enabled and RadScriptManager and RadCompreesion modules referenced in the web.config and then under dnn host performance settings memory cache = heavy and defalt compression enabled I get a file reduction size of 78.42%  from 153,761  down to 39,698 a 363%
speed improvement. Full details can found at http://www.mansbooks.com/Blog/tabid/6...
Try it.

An update to my last post. NO RADCOMPRESSION
I got lots of errors on post back and the problem was RADCompression module referenced in the web.config. Best results with IIS7.0 was to set deflate compression in Host/Performance/Compression settings which works with the default static compression in IIS 7.0. With this if there are any problems then you need to see if the default settings in your PortalSettings SQL Table for Compression are at 0 which is default and the the max compression and/or 10. Do not set it to 10 try 5 and work your way up to 9. WebMatrix gives you easy access to your SQL database as long as your server allows connection. GoDaddy now provides SQL connections on there .net 4.0 Cloud and others are also.
