FYI - If it's worked everywhere else apart from your particular machine, it's not a dll issue on the website - it's your machine... assuming what you have is identical.

I am getting the same issue on 5.0.1 - at work I can't seem to log in...  but at home its just fine... both FF and IE browsers seem to be affected...

is there some ajax going on now that may be affected by firewall?

I have the same error. I upgrade from 4.9.5 to 5.0.0 and the login module has an exception "Cannot load view_state tree..." i'm crazy with this error!!!!

I'm getting the same errors, I upgraded from 4.8.2 to 5.1.4.

One thing that I noticed about the login control is that in the previous versions if I was already logged in I would not see the login form and buttons ( I have a login control on the home page) but now I see the login form and buttons all the time, logged in or not.

Any ideas on this yet?

I upgraded from 4.9.5 to 5.2.1 and am getting the same problem - I cant login on the home page and certain other pages and get the Viewstate error a lot! Changing module caching did not help...
