does anyone can solve my problem?

the error merssage is:
Cannot insert explicit value for identity column in table 'CompanySupervisor' when IDENTITY_INSERT is set to OFF

how can i dont insert the value into  identity column ?
here is my code:

                cp.CompanySupervisors.InsertOnSubmit(sup1)
                cp.SubmitChanges()

 I guess the first question is why are you trying to insert a value into an identify column? That's normally a generated value created by SQL Server.

I would recommend that you update the stored procedure that's doing the insert to include this:

 

SET IDENTITY_INSERT [your table name] ON

Insert records

SET IDENTITY_INSERT [your table name] OFF

I assume you're using LInq to SQL. Linq to SQL is smart enough to know it does not perform an insert on an identity key. If Linq to SQL is confused it is usually because the database schema has changed since the last time you made a .dbml file. Simply delete the table in the .dbml file and re-drag it over again and all should be well.
