My goal  is to create an integrated Forum/Social Networking registration page.

As the clients register they'll be asked to provide assesssments of a long list of products.  The assessments need to provide a comments box as well as either buttons or a slider. Once the assessemnts are made I want the pages that feature the products to be automatically updated the lasted reviews.

I have two questions; Which module provides a robust survey tool?

given that these applications exist in different modules possibly by different companies is it difficult to integrate the two? Can I have someone sign in for the forum and have the data they enter in the survey 'stick' to them?

Though I have implement things of this nature I'd think Enterprise forms would suite your needs quite well.  In addition to the ability to register users, you can also create surveys and quizes.  Get in touch with the vendor an see if they can help out.
