I am wanting to convert an old ASP web application into form of DotNetNuke modules.

My old webapp worked on 2 pages, eg.

GeneralOpen.aspx (contains a form & data posting to ...)
GeneralUpdate.aspx

For the DNN module I could merge the Open & Update files into one and rely on postback. But what I don't understand is how can a User Control (.ascx) postback to itself if it's embedded in DNN main default.aspx page?

Kevin, your problem is not with DNN but ASP.NET. This is not a feature or function of dnn but the usual way any asp.net web form (or user control) works. I suggest you taking a good book on asp.net programming to understand the basics of that platform before starting to program for dnn.

I have been reading an ASP.NET book myself and reading up on WebForms & postbacks. But still DNN is a bit strange if the default.aspx main page has it's on form, and each module has it's own forms. If you click on a link attached to a form that is a postback, then I assume ASP.NET will handle this.

I then read up on DNN Inter-Module Communication. I assume it's like one form posting data to another form.

I need to know how to make all my modules links post data to an active module. Active module possibly stored in session.

This method might be easier to understand: http://opensource.indyneinc.com/home/DevX/Articles/DynamicLoadUserControlsinDotNetNuke3/tabid/67/Default.aspx

Thanks, this looks very good, A user control to dynamically load other user controls in DNN 3. Hopefully it will work in DNN2 too!
