I am planning to write a custom membership provider. My questions are

One, will any .NET v2 membership compliant implementation will work with DNN or I have to take into consideration some aspects? (Like cookie names or anything..)

Two, if I replace DNN Membership provider with my implementation; will host/admin logins work? Or do I have to accommodate these special accounts in my membership provider?

The core is changing the membership provider for the next release in the next month.  If you project can wait you might want to see how it is implemented.
