Hey there,

We've gotten DNN 4.09 installed (whew!) and are starting to edit and customize. There are a couple things I'm unclear about, and would love some quick thoughts (very helpful!) on the following ...

1) How do we edit the Privacy Statement and Terms of Use? We're a youth-serving nonprofit, and need to include specific clauses. However, I can't find this textual content anywhere (and loading the page in Admin mode doesn't seem to help).

2) If we wanted to keep our default templates (system default) but make minor modifications, is it really the case we need to edit externally, zip and reinstall the Skins? There's no direct way to access the HTML portions of the Skin file for each page, e.g., the header/footer/search bar?

3) Reading from other posts, it seems difficult to edit or style elements such as the Login page - has any workaround been found to create a better look/feel for this page?

Thanks for your help,

--Dave

1. http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Knowledge/DotNetNukeOnlineHelp/tabid/787/TID/3729/cid/-1/Default.aspx

2. There is no way to edit the HTML from the system, but portal.css which you can edit on the site settings page (But IMO this is not the right place to edit your skin)

3. Styling these is easy, they all have a CssClass attribute you can set, so you can style them

Hey there,

Thanks for the response. There's one additional thing that seems awkward. I'm trying to set the body background color... but changing the body class results in only HALF of the page background changing (see enclosed image)... why is this?

That's because the default skin skin has a background-image defined, you will have to remove that from the skin or set a transparent background-image or one that has the color you need.

Timo,

Would you please expound on this statement? In your opinion, why is the site settings page not the right place to edit the skin? What is the right place (must be to clone the skin to the portal?)?

Thanks
