Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right thread for mye question... I'll give it a try anyhow!

I'm new to DotNetNuke. I have just installed it on my Windows Home Server. It works great. Anyhow, I believe I made a mistake by installing ver. 5.0. I understand that there are not many modules developed for this version yet....

I'm trying to find a Photogallery that's easy to configure, and which are able to display my photos located on the "Shared Folders" on WHS. All of the gallery modules I have read about are storing the photos in own folders, and are also renaming them etc. Does anyone know of a free Photogallery module for DotNetNuke which are able to read my Photos folder? I just want my photos to be displayed nicely without too much hassle. The upload of photos will be handled by WHS file management functionality.

Really appreciate your help

Thx
Tom-Roger

Well, My photo gallery module won't talk to a WHS shared folder yet, but it is a DNN5 photogallery module that's completely FREE. It doesn't have any management tools, and currently uses a provider layer to bind to a flickr or picasa photostream. It has only a few options, but all together provides a powerful and flexible image gallery module. I'll see about getting a folder provider written in the next few days depending on my free time.

Let me know what you think!

Your gallery module looks very nice. Good job! I can tell you that a lot of people out there are seeking the same functionality as myself. I have not yet seen any gallery modules that are able to connect to the shared photos folder on WHS. If you write a module with this capability, I am confident that a lot of WHS user out there would be more than grateful.

I usually organize my photos in folder like this:

200712 New Years eve in New York
200707 Summer vacation
200809 Trip to Stockholm
200812 Christmas eve

It would be nice if your gallery module could display the folders like albums. Some people also organize their albumfolders as subfolders, grouped by year (2007, 2008 etc.). This is very practical when things start to grow.

Do you use WHS yourself?

Kind regards,
Tom-Roger

No, I haven't used WHS yet, my house runs ubuntu....

Is there anything special about a WHS shared photos folder? Its avaible via UNC correct? You cam modify permissions and add the asp.net worker process with readonly permissions? Shoud I just setup WHS in my VMware server?

The reason I went with flickr for my photo collection, $25/year for unlimited space, you can't beat that... plus I don't have to pay for hosting the bandwidth or worry about backing up 20+gb of images...
