I believe the shared folders are available via UNC. The permissions can easily be modified.

I clearly understand why you went whith flickr. My DSL line offers only 2500/500kbs. 500kbs doesn't feel like broadband when I want to download pictures etc. from mye WHS when out traveling. With regards to space, mye WHS got 1TB of capacity, and right now it's 25% full. I have a lot of space available, and my wife and myself have both computers (Windows Live Photogallery) mapped to the shared photos folder. This is great for adding tags, editing photos etc.  Windows Live Photogallery now also supports upload to flickr with just a simple click.

WHS doesn't offer any Gallery functionality out-of-the-box. Neither does it offer any website creation tools. Andrew Grant has written a tool for creating a simple photogallery and for creating a simple web-page. You can find it here: http://forum.wegotserved.co.uk/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=63

I heard about dotnetnuke, and sicne it works fine with IIS I wanted to give it a try. With dotnetnuke I will have a really good website solution, and also the possiblity to extend the funcitonality by adding modules. Since I want to store all my photos in the "Shared photos folder" I would like to have a solution where I easily can view our photos externally.

If you manage to write a gallery module that offers this functionality, I would happily test it for you. If it becomes a success I would encourage you to have "WeGotServed" to review it. I would also be happy to offer you a donation if it works well!

Kind regards,
Tom-Roger

Tom. While you are waiting for that all-in-one solution may I offer an alternative that I use myself.

WHS to Flickr with the PhotoSync plugin and DNN Flickr Photo Gallery from Joshua Guy. This module uses flicker API and will synch all photo sets and photos. No RSS limitations like the others.

I too would love to see more integration with DNN and WHS. Would be nice to see DNN running on WHS as a replacement for the WHS web control panel.

Hi Simon,

I tried the PhotoSync plugin, but I nevert got the sync to work. I don't know what I did wrong, but I read that a lot of other people also were struggling with it. Maybe I should give it one more try.

Is the DNN Flickr Photo Gallery DNN 5.0 compatible? I installed DNN 5 without thinking about the limitations with regards to module compatibility.

Yes, DNN works nicely on my WHS. I haven't been thinking about other possibilities with respect to integration between DNN and WHS. Any special ideas in mind?

/Tom

My photogallery module also uses the flickr api, and it's provider based so you can plug in other photo stores, like the picasa api...

I'm currently testing a UNC provider which will allow you to pull images directly from the WHS photo share.

Also, my module is FREE, doesn't cost you a dime, and will be posted on CodePlex shortly.

Hi Oliver,

I have downloaded your module and installed it on my WHS. However, I haven't got this Photosync plugin to work yet. I am considering buying the Flickr pro account. I hope it will work then... Also, I am confident that your module works with DNN5.

What are the requirements for your module? I get an error when I try to place it on mye site. It needs ASP.NET 3.5 right? Anything else?

Looking forward to test your module with the UNC provider. Awesome!

Kind regards,
Tom-Roger
