Hi guys, I've installed the News Module on DNN 5.0 with a view to getting various feeds on my homepage.

However, I'm struggling to get the majority of feeds working. Here's a typical error:

Feed 'http://www.brandrepublic.asia/RSS/printxml/1/1' could not be loaded. Error: The 'isPermaLink' attribute is invalid - The value 'False' is invalid according to its datatype 'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema:boolean' - The string 'False' is not a valid Boolean value.

The feed url was lifted from the redirect page on the original site and dropped in to the News Feeds settings without amendment.

It may be that I'm misunderstanding the basics here, but I can't find a how to guide in the dotnetnuke site.

Can anyone help?

First, I'd recommend reading my blog post here.  The post discusses how I troubleshoot feeds.  The important thing to understand about using the News module v4.x is that the input URL's feed source is going to be validated for strict compliance to RSS v2.0 specs, as it needs that validation to successfully present it on a page.  Loads of posts about that aspect.

I put your feed URL in the W3C feed validator and it has a lot of issues tagged as non-compliant, so long story short - this feed is not a good feed for use with the News module v4.x.  You cannot fix the feed unless you produce the source.  I've discussed this issue in many other posts, and there's no easy way around learning about how DNN's News module works.  There is no official guide, but I've listed some resources, and provide information on my blog, because, I don't want to fill the forums with this kind of discussion.

An alternative is to explore using the XML/XSL module, which requires having a suitable custom XSL file to translate your feed.  This approach requires a bit more effort and knowledge, so depending on your level of expertise, it may be a viable solution or not.

Hope that helps a bit.
