Hi,

I am brand new to DNN and was playing around with the Sandbox portal. I added a Forums module but it only shows up when I'm logged in as Admin and not as regular user. It shows the forums box in red with the message:  Visible By Administrators Only.

I have searched here for an answer but did not find.

Can anyone direct me on how to make the standard forums module public?

Thanks and apologies for my beginner's ignorance.

 Hey blair,

You can set content to be visible to administrators in two main ways 1) at the page level and 2) at the module level. To check the page level, you would navigate to the page settings (via option under "Page" at the top left of the control panel, when logged in as admin) and then check the permissions grid (one of the first options on the settings page). Make sure that "all users" or "registered users" have "view" permissions. You could also create a role and assign that role permissions, but you can use those two roles "out of the box".

Also, you may want to check the module settings. You can navigate to the module's settings through the action menu (little down arrow at the top left of the module. Hover over this and then click "settings") and then you will see that same permissions grid again, only this time the settings are for the specific module. You can either "inherit module settings from page" (checkbox at the bottom) or override the default page settings and specify view and edit permissions at the module level.

Hope that helps,

Ian
