How do I turn off the view_state for my custom module?

I tried Enableview_state=false but that didn't do it ... is there something else that I need to do?

Yes we placed Enableview_state = false in the directive ... the page uses several modules though ... only one of which is custom.  The page is here ...

http://www.bibleuniverse.com/study-tools/bible-study-guides/english/study-guide-viewer.aspx?IID=2-3&LNG=en&TL=Rescue-from-Above

though we have disabled the view state if you do a view source you'll see the view_state still alive and well ...

Is there a way to turn it off for the entire page?  Or what about for the entire portal?  This site is mostly informational without many forms so view_state is not really a necessity ...
