I know I can't be the first person to ask this, but I can not find references to my question.  I would like to use the Documents Module in a number of ways within my site which means I would like 3 or 4 Document Categories Lists.  How is this accomplished?  I can create one under that heading, but I need 3 more with distinctly differnts lists.  Any help would be appreciated.

Mike,

Please post the versions your are running for both DotNetNuke and the Document Module.  Earlier versions of the Documents Module only supported one List named "Document Categories" but the current version supports any number of Lists.  After defining your lists you can associate a list to each instance of the Documents Module.  We are working on some documentation and hope to have it out soon.

Chuck,

Good point!  Sorry about that.  I am using DNN 4.08.04 and Documents 3.01.06.  I have never installed an upgrade to a module.  May I ask the silly question how that is accomplished?  Anything special I have to do if I already have data out there?  Thanks!

Hi Mike,

The current version of the Documents Module is 04.01.00 and can be downloaded from the Documents Project page here.  One thing to be aware of... After upgrading you may encounter the following error when you try to access documents.  Don't be alarmed as it's an easy fix.  For details check out this post.

Error: Documents is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: The type initializer for 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Documents.DataProvider' threw an exception.

I hope this helps.

Good Morning Chuck!

Just wanted to let you know that the upgrade to the 04.04.00 went without a hitch.  I did not run into the error you mentioned.  The ability to have multiple Category Lists and the Default Folder helps significantly.

The only thing that is not in this upgrade that would have made the solution 99% is if had the ability to show the actual filename as one of the fields.

Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Mike
