Basically, this is what I want to do...  I want to have a DNN site that takes care of my user registration and content delivery etc.  But then I want to have another web application that lives on the same server (different virtual directory), and I want to have it point to the same DNN database so that it can leverage the same security\roles, etc.  So basically, if you register on my DNN portal, then you can follow a link to my other web application and login with the same user name and password.

Anyway, I've tried adding the "machinekey\validationkey" line in my web.config for DNN to my other application, but it still doesn't seem to recognize the user names and passwords.  Is there any way that I can do this?  It seems like it should just work since it would be using the same tables\etc, but I'm guessing that I am doing somthing incorrect.  I am just using an asp:Login control in my new application.

Help!

I've been able to use the same user table to login. I want to be able to accept DNN user registrations on the external website though. If anyone can help here, I'd appreciate it also.

I suggest you post what you've done with your code here.

To be able to use the same usernames and logins in the external app, I copied the machine key line to my web config, made sure that I had a connection string in my web config to connect to the DNN database, made sure that the aspnet membership provider was set to encrypt - and it worked.

I now need users to be able to register on the external app, and it automatically fill all the appropiate table rows in the DNN database. So that DNN is already configured for when they log in there.

Plus I would like to implement consistent email verification on both sites.

Check out IWEB project.  The IWEB has a built-in web service method to create DNN account.  IWEB is a framework that you can expand with additional custom methods.  Plus it is is secure with  SSL enable.
