 Hey guys,

I'm trying to build my first skin here, something really simple but I'm running into a problem. For some reason my css file and xml file don't affect my skin at all. but if i take the code from the css file and stick it into the header of the htm file it works. Any idea what's going on?

your XML will only be put into the ascx when you parse your skin. If you're creating a new skin with HTML then parse the package from the skin management page. IF you're working directly with the ASCX file you can leave out the XML file and put your changes into that file directly for the attributes of elements.

As for the CSS file, is the name of the file SKIN.CSS? if so, have you restarted your website since you created that file?

 hi,

thanks for your quick reply. as for the xml i've tried both with the file and directly with the ascx and it works when i directly input into the ascx but not when i use the xml file.

the css file and xml file are named skin.css and skin.xml.

and i reparse everytime i make a change. if it helps i'm using VWD 2008 and DNN5

any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Are you working with a .HTM file, or do you only have skinname.ascx in your skin folder?
