I am trying to change the font color of the Logout and username when one is logged into DNN. I am trying to make it invisible. I went to default.css and changed colors in the following skin objects:

A.SkinObject:link
A.SkinObject:visited
A.SkinObject:hover
A.SkinObject:active

to white so that it looked invisible and matched the background. It worked but that seemed to change the color of other links too such as TERMS OF USE and PRIVACY STATEMENT. Is there another way to change the color of just the USERNAME and LOGOUT link without changing the colors of all the links in the page?

Confine your style changes to the specific CSS classes for the objects you wish to affect.

 DNN_Login = login link class

  DNN_User = username link class

Cheers!

Thanks for your response. I was not able to find DNN_Login or DNN_User objects in the default.css file. Is this in another file? Also, would you be able to elaborate the step in more detail. I am not a programmer so am having difficulty understanding how to specify the class to that certain object.

Those classes are probably defined in your skin's "skin.css" file.  The "skin.css" file takes precedence over "default.css".

You can easily override the "default.css" definitions on a portalwide basis by going to ADMIN->SITE SETTINGS->STYLESHEET EDITOR and adding/testing code at the bottom of whatever CSS is already there.  In this case, your CSS would be something like:

   .DNN_Login{ color:blue; font-size: 10pt; (...etc) }
   .DNN_User { color:blue; font-size: 10pt; (...etc) }

Add only the CSS styles you wish to change.  Anything already associated with those classes will persist so you only need to provide the CSS for the changes you desire.

Discovering Where CSS is Defined
There are multiple files where CSS is (or may be) defined in DNN.  Any one page element in DNN may be defined by CSS spread among many files.  The easiest way to discover where a particular element's CSS is defined is by using a tool.  I've detailed the basic use of one free one (for IE) here:

   http://www.eguanasolutions.com/DNN_Blog/EntryID/19.aspx

With that tool, you can simply drag a "target" icon over a page element to get information about it (a LOT of information).  See the explanation and screenshots in the posting for details.

That helped a lot. I was able to tell exactly what object I needed to change. Great tool. Thanks a ton...

I was able to make the change but it seems like I will have to make the change in each of the skin.css files for all these child portals because I was not able to find that same object (UserToken and LoginToken) in the default.css or portal.css files which probably could have made that change in all the child portals too. Although this is not a huge problem, being able to make the change for all the child portals at once would have been nice and saved me a lot of time because all our child portals follow the same theme.

Thanks.
