I just did a fresh install of DNN 5.0.0 into a sandbox area. The install went smoothly and I was pleased. I guess I am a bit disappointed that I can't use the Rich Text editor to change the first text box on the generated website. I can edit the second text box (althought the images show as stubs, not pictures. OK, so I determined that I should post this to the forum to see if anyone has an answer.

I find it remarkable that I am forced to use the Basic Text box setting to get this into the forum. Since I had the error symbol at the bottom of the browser (IE 7), I looked at it. Here is the result:

Line: 46
Char: 1
Error: Object Expected
Code:0
URL:http://www.dotnetnuke.com/providers/HtmlEditorProviders/Fck/fckeditor/editor/fckeditor.html?InstanceName=dnn_ctr2108_Forum_PosteEdit_teContent_teContent&Toolbar=DNNDefault

I am guessing the line 46 is the following:
FCKeditorAPI.GetInstance('dnn_ctr2108_Forum_PostEdit_teContent_teContent');if (editor) editor.UpdateLinkedField();})();

HELP.
This is about the only thing I don't like so far about 5.0.0.

Second question, what is the timeframe for the next release of 5?

i suspect you're seeing this - http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=8716&PROJID=2 .try moving the DotNetNuke.FckHtmlEditorProvider.dll file into your bin folder.

It's hard to give an exact estimate of release dates, but we're already testing the 4.9.2 build on dotnetnuke.com, and i believe it's running without issue. The needs to be a change made to it to fix one issue (portal templates as far as I can remember), so both releases (4.9.2 & 5.0.1) are probably not more than a week or two away.

Thank you. I will look forward to the upgrade. I am actually wondering if there is an extention or something in my browser since I remember having something similar happen on my machine when I upgraded to 4.9 and the same problem did not occur on a different machine that had IE6 on it.

that particular error was a packaging error and would affect any machine equally. There have been earlier "problems" where the FCK editor javascript (which we get from FCK themselves) broke compatibility, so users needed to ensure they were running the updated versions i.e. that the page request pulled down the latest version. Some machines browsers are set to check every page, some to check once a session, so this behaviour could have resulted in what you saw. It's easy to resolve, either press CTRL+F5 to "force" a refresh of the page contents, or else clear your browser cache.
