Does anyone know how to get the Portal Alias to work?

My setup has an original Alias in there of www.ABC.com/DEF/GHI (non editable). I added a new Alias like www.ABC.com which I can edit. I now show 2 Aliases. If I type www.ABC.com in the browser, I get the directory listing, which makes sense because there’s nothing in there. If I turn directory browsing off in IIS, then I get the server error that it's been turned off.

How do I use www.ABC.com to run the application? Is there something else to configure in DNN. I don’t see anything.

I have a temporary fix in there so when I type www.ABC.com it runs a redirect html. But it still display www.ABC.com/DEF/GHI/Default.aspx in the browser.

Thanks

In IIS you will need to setup your website to point to the DotNetNuke folder you configured, right now it sounds like you have the website pointing to a different folder than you have the def/ghi folder pointing to.

Thanks Chris!

I am using DiscountASP.net as my host and this is the response from them:

"You are actually not able to change where the domain points on IIS, as your domain (or any extra domains that you add) will point to the root folder. Since you have the DotNetNuke files placed under a folder, I would have to recommend that you move all those files to the root folder, which would make your site accessible by just typing in the domain."

I don't want to move all files to the root, do I? The DotNetNuke app is working great, I just don't want to show the whole directory structure in the browser. I would like the user to be able to just type in www.ABC.com. I guess I don't understand the "add aliases" function in DotNetNuke. If I have 2 of them listed like:

www.ABC.com/DEF/GHI

www.ABC.com

Which one does it use and which one ultimately shows up in the browser.

Your help is very much appreciated!

Still trying to exclude subdirectories from the address bar:

I have seen it written that if you add this line to the web.config file it would not display the subdirectories in the address bar for my DotNetNuke application. The comment in my web.config file even says the following:

<

<!--

Host Header to remove from URL so "www.mydomain.com/johndoe/Default.aspx" is treated as "www.mydomain.com/Default.aspx" -->
My web.config file already contained that line but it still shows "www.mydomain.com/johndoe/Default.aspx" in the address bar. I am obviously missing something somewhere. Am I making this harder than it is? It would seem that most everyone has already figured this out.

Thanks
