it's not enough to just be the administrator if you're running vista/windows2008/win7 you have to start a process as administrator i.e. if you're vs.net 2008 it will actually say the name of the project followed by "(Administrator)" in the titlebar if you're running in that context. you can do this by right clicking the vs.net 2008 instance and selecting run as administrator (for more details and options see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms165100.aspx) Cathal

Hi Cathal and thanks for your reply.  I should have mentioned that I what I was doing was being done on Windows 2003 Server.  I tried starting VS 2008 by "Run as Administrator" and also by logging in as Administrator and trying it that way as well.

If this is not a commonly reported problem, perhaps there's some security setting that needs changing, or something like that...

Or perhaps if I load it in VS 2005 instead...  I'd really like to get this source project running so, if anyone has an idea, I'm all ears.

Coming back to say I just got the solution to load.  Turns out I had to create a Website instead of a Virtual Directory.  Then the entire solution would load.  And it compiles without errors too.

Problem is...  Now I'm back to the original problem.  Try to run the project and I get "The resource cannot be found." errors, like before.  This is getting maddening.
