Hi

I want to run the child portal on different IP address. Can anyone tell me how I can achieve it.

I am running DNN 4.9 on dedicated server. The DNN install have 2 child portals and I want to run them as different site and not child portal. So for that I just have to add entry in portalalias table. But now my client want is he want to run the child portal from same DNN install but on different IP address.

I am confused on how we can achieve this. Do we have to make any changes in IIS or DNS ? Please help me out

Thanks

Jagdish

This would be handled in your IIS settings, not within DNN, assuming the domain name stays the same. If you're referencing the site based on IP address, and not a domain name, then you would also need to modify the portal alias for the child portal.

Thanks  for reply.

Let me explain how it will be. Lets say my main site is RC.com and running on 198.128.39.30 IP. Now there is a child portal which I want to run as say RC1876.com but on IP 192.38.293.29 from same DNN install. what will be the setting I have to do for this to run.  I am running 4.09.01 version of DNN

Regards

Jagdish

When moderating we can't see the original posts so forgive me if I'm asking something that's already been covered.

Are both IPs for NICs installed in your server? Then I "think" you should be able to handle this through IIS on your server.

You can do this using Host Headers in IIS.

Make sure you only have one IIS site pointing to the DNN install folder. If you point two or more different IIS sites to the same DNN Install, then you will run into problems with the scheduler and caching.

If you are doing this for SSL reasons then Host Headers are not the answer.  Also, if you want to keep them seperate for security, you should really make them their own installs, and use two different IIS websites.
