I have two profile properties which are Rich Text format.  When a user first creates their account and profile, these properties are implemented with no problem.  The difficulty is that the Rich Text in those properties cannot be edited.  Once a user has input their information during the initial user account creation, that's it.  The profile properties set to Text can be edited.

I am using DNN version 4.08.

Any suggestions?

Back in DNN versions prior to 4.9 (or perhaps 4.8.4 ?) the FckEditor provider did not properly return a value for rich text when used within an AJAX UpdatePanel which is the case for the user profile control if AJAX has been enabled for the site. While you could disable AJAX, I would suggest upgrading to DNN version 4.9.2 when it is released (very soon). 4.9.x also fixes several security issues which were present in 4.8.0.

I suspected that might be the case and I don't want to disable AJAX.  I'll figure a workaround for now and upgrade.

What kind of property are you using in the Rich Text format? I think it's true that FCK editor cannot edit the Text/HTML, it only offers some additional tools that Free Text Box does not offer like Paste as plain Text, Paste from Word, Find and Replace, Insert Flash, Insert Page Break, Maximize Editor size to full screen and Customizing of Editor Options (for Admin only). Free Text Box is capable of editing Text/HTML in the Basic Text Box, it's a WYSIWYG editor that permits hyperlink, email link, drag and drop image gallery, bullet points, spell-checking and others.

Right now I'm using it as a place where site users can post a headline for their profile and utilize colors, different fonts, etc to make it more interactive and fun. 

I was hoping to use the RichText format as a spot for users to actually enter a code snippet in their user profile for one of the fields.  It would have been the easiest place for me to do that, but I think I have another option that might work out very well.

I haven't heard about Free Text Box, I will definitely look into that.  Thank you!
