OK, so I have successfully setup logins via AD and everything is working wonderfully. I even used Mike's login adjustment so users won't have to enter the domain in when logging in which works great.

However, if a user forgets their password the SendPassword page is not setup to add the domain for the user as with the login page. Needless to say when a user requests their password they don't know to enter in the domain name.

Is there any way I can adjust this page so the domain name is automatically added when the user requests their password? If they don't put the domain in they just get an error say the user does not exist.

Thanks,

Tim

You're AD users shouldn't be forgetting their passwords.  On our production site at the school I work for we set the visibility for the reminder control to False so that it doesn't show up.

With the 01.00.05 version of the AD provider the password for a user in the DNN database will be a random password (for security reasons) so using the password reminder won't do them any good.

For some reason I am unable to find where I would hide that control.

I have found this in the Login.ascx.resx file but not sure if that's the correct place to make changes.

data name="cmdForgotPassword.Text" xml:space="preserve">value>Forgot Password ?</value>data>

<

<

</

data name="cmdPassword.Text" xml:space="preserve">value>Retrieve Password</value>data>

Unfortunately I am not well versed in ASP.NET coding so I'm hesitant to change things. Thanks

You don't mention which version of DNN you're using but you want to open up the Login.ascx file itself. In DNN 4 it's under Admin->Authentication and in DNN 5 it's under DesktopModules->Admin->Authentication. Look in the login.ascx for the Linkbutton id="cmdPassword" and anywhere in that line add a Visible="false". That should do the trick.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but you can still do www.mysite.com/default.aspx?ctl=sendpassword to access the sendpassword functionality.  How can we disable this functionality?  It's a large security hole.  Thanks
