I was wondering if there is an option to modify the blog search text box length. I am using the default skin and am trying to place it on the left panel but it doesnt end when it hits the edge. Is the option on the site or do I have to modify some css file?

Hi, energi-
You didn't mention a few useful things like your version of DNN, your installed version of the BLOG module or the name of your skin (there are multiple skins included by default with DNN -- knowing for certain which one you are using would be helpful).
 
That said, the Blog Search input box width is dictated by its surrounding elements.  The input itself is set to "width:100%" meaning it will expand to fill whatever space it's given.  Look below the input box:  the radio button options "keyword" and "phrase" plus the "Search" button are what dictate the width of the overall container.  You'll need to change the actual layout of the controls to make the overall container more narrow.  That is, move "phrase" option under the "keyword" option and move the "Search" button under "phrase".
 
Also note that a blog with a very long name may force the blog dropdown selector to expand.
