Hi there,

If there's one gripe I have about dotnetnuke in general, its that the search is not very reliable. For instance, I wanted to search for this topic in the form, but come back with "No Results"!

Anyway, gripe over, here are my questions:

1.

I have an events module here:

http://www.dcpscanoeclub.org/Events/tabid/64/Default.aspx

In this I have enabled "Integrate with DotNetNuke search" in the settings, however when I search via the search box at the top of the page, I get no results. Try searching for some of the surnames in the events. For instance "Tomos" - this gets you no results.

This is strange as search seems to work fine with Text/HTML, and other third party modules such as ventrian news articles and simple gallery.

Is the search functionality something that has been flagged by other users? Or have I just configured the module wrong?

2.

Secondly, is there any way I can adjust the markup for the tooltip? If you hover over an event in the left hand calender you get a pretty horrible tooltip, as the content is too wide for the tooltip. All I want to do is make the tooltip width larger and perhaps adjust the font-size for contents so it scales down a bit.

Thank you in advance,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

  1. The search functionality indexes those items that have been actually entered via that module instance. I can't tell from looking at your site, but I would guess that the month calendar on the left includes the events from the list calendar from the right. For search to work you would need to enable it on the calendar on the right since that is where the events are 'owned'. If you have entered them via another module on another page, you would need to enable it there.

This was changed to work this way last year because people kept seeing events appear twice in the search/What's New module. Hope this makes sense.

  2. Yes you can change the tooltip, it's configured via the themes stored under ~/DesktopModules/Events/Themes. I would suggest creating your own, otherwise it will get overwritten when you upgrade the module. The theme file must be named the same as the directory it is in.

Cheers
Roger

Just as a passing interest, I notice that you are using the defaut theme against one module and fixedblue against another. You will probably have noticed that this doesn't work (both will appear with the same theme). This has been fixed in the next release.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for your reply. The search is enabled on the module on the right (list), but not the module on the left (calender). I am only adding events to the module on the right (list).

I have tried combinations of enabling search on both modules, one module, no modules. Of re-indexing the search content from "Search Admin" and deleting/re-adding events but so far, no luck.

Thanks for the point on the tooltip though, I'll give that a go.

Cheers,

Hi Andrew,

I suspect the module is not passing the description to the search process to index. I'll investigate some morw, and see if it can be added.

Cheers
Roger
